References For Parents Not Living Together

One of my roles as a mediator is to help educate parents in dealing with the difficulties encountered by their children when their parents are no longer together. Oftentimes, this comes up in discussions in our mediation sessions, other times, I find it very helpful to provide reference information for my clients to access on their own.

Here are four very helpful books, along with the suggested age ranges, for parents who are seeking information on how to best process these issues with each other and with their children.
Two Homes Filled with Love – Steven Herman
Ages 4-10
The List of Things that Will Not Change
Rebecca Stead. Ages 8 – 13
Two Homes – Claire Masurel
Ages 2 – 5
Divorce is The Worst – Anastasia Higginbotham
Ages 5 -12
Although mediation is a legal process, one of my goals as a mediator is to assist my clients with guidance in parenting post-divorce, to hopefully allow them and their children to thrive after the process is completed.
